The Lunar Mouse Series II Gold begins a new lunar calendar according to Chinese tradition. The Perth Mint annually strikes a changing animal motif based on the Chinese lunar calendar. Each zodiac sign has its special meaning. Those born in the Year of the Mouse are often considered very sociable, adaptable, optimistic, good at sensing dangers, and therefore cautious, but very optimistic.

Due to the partly low mintage and its popularity especially among coin collectors, significant premiums should be expected on the purchase price. The mintage of this coin is limited to 30,000 pieces.
