The 1 Pound coin of George V features King George V on the obverse, who reigned from 1910 to 1936. The Sovereign gold coin has been minted by the Royal Mint since 1817. The reverse depicts Saint George in battle with the dragon. The coins were minted from 1893 to 1901. The minting institution of the United Kingdom was established in 886 and had its seat in London for almost 1100 years. The term Sovereign is the English word for sovereign or also regal.
