Since 1988, the Canadian Mint has been producing this 1 ounce silver coin featuring the maple leaf. These silver coins are among the market leaders in silver investment coins. The English "FINE SILVER" and the French "ARGENT PUR" as well as "9999" indicate that it is 999.9/1000 fine silver. Since 2014, these coins have been produced with the new, modern Mintshield technology as a security feature. The reverse side shows Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination of 5 Canadian dollars.
